on a strangely coincidental* note, the HD version of this film came in the mail today. [ i ordered it last week because an Edible Dirt comic and subsequent conversation with the artist inspired me].
man, talk about serendipity.
*not coincidental to the scots, but just the connectivity mentioned above.

i’ve seen the movie at least twice. was attempting a third last year [since it had been a long while] but something came up and i wound up taking it back to the video store. i also ordered “a clockwork orange” at the time i ordered this. waiting on that to come in. excellent flicks. i do love stanley kubrick. not having read any of the associated books, except “the shining”, i have to admit i probably never will. the shining was the only one true adaptation to film that i ever found that surpassed the original manuscript.

The Shining is one of my all-time favorites. That place is a real hotel in Colorado. I thought the TV remake sucked though…and Steve King was even in it. The original has a certain evil to it that is just impossible to replicate. I absolutely adore the photograph on the wall at the end. True masterpiece.
Clockwork is another excellent film. I have been meaning to read the book – it reads just like the film sounds. Hard to believe that’s Malcolm McDowell also.
