several things on the art front

April 1, 2008 at 1:14 am (art)

  • picked up my work from metropolitan transit authority and was given a plaque in honor of my participation :)
  • was also given a very large foamboard presentation which had my bio on it. lol! it was used for the display.
  • it was also pointed out to me at the time that the number on my business card is wrong. why, that couldn’t be … i made them myself. so i checked and yep … i screwed it up. hahaha! dork. good thing i didn’t splurge on the fancy stuff this time around. oh well.
  • listed some collage aceo’s in my etsy shop. most of them are older stuff i had on ebay that never sold. some are new.
  • also adjusted [lowered] some prices on paintings just to get things moving.
  • apart from taking my time with “cathleen”, i haven’t felt much like painting. things are settling in, what with no need to entertain anymore, my space is clear and maybe with my head clear [well, i still have to finish our taxes], i think i’ll be ready to tackle these ideas that have been floating around my head for a while, including the guitar which i think my family is excited to see me get started on. :)
  • lawndale is accepting applications for their artist studio program [2008-2009]. sounds great, but it’s a commitment i can’t quite take on right now. plus, i’m still stinging from their not accepting one of my pieces last year. so much so that i’m gunshy with them unless it involves the day of the dead tins. :\
  • there is also a call for handmade cards that i saw on etsy. looks pretty neat. since it’s such a small sort of project, i might just try my hand at it. i can think of several other artists who should look into it as well.
  • i finally chose a way to feature the art work on my site. i spent so much time fiddling with buttons and squares and whatnot [once i discovered i could easily create thumbnails by selecting all of my full images and right clicking and letting imageready do the rest. the hard part was deciding what worked best for what i wanted. having since decided, i was so burnt out, i left it half finished. well, less than half finished. [so much more to go].—————-
