focus, damn you, focus!
i ordered my first set of canvas giclees today, they should be in next week. if they’re as good as i think they will be, i will have some high quality stuff available available for purchase. the archival quality they provide would mean the inks would stand up to at least 200 years. and having it printed on canvas, it will have a similar look to the original painting. if i can give it a wax finish and perhaps add stuff to it, so much the better for personalization.

wordpress has a shopping cart option that i’ll have to look into. my host offers agora and i tried that once but got stuck because i didn’t understand it. i think that was right around the time i opened this place.
trying very hard to streamline things, but it seems to me that my approach is a lot like my spring cleaning … ambitious but counter-productive. [yeah, i'm one of those people who goes room to room starting a new project only to find by the end of the day that the house is a disaster and i haven't completed anything.]
hair stuffs
i have a pair of ratty old plastic hair combs. nothing fancy, just something i use to pull the hair back from my face. i hadn’t realized how difficult it was to find combs that i actually like. these are as close to what i crave than anything else i’ve seen at the local shops. but browsing ebay, oh oh oh …. i’ve found a treasure trove of items that i would love to possess. i just won this particular comb [it's a gorgeous 4" x 5" vintage lucite piece]:
i’m also bidding on a more elaborate one, similar design but with more contrast in the [faux] tortoise shell. this piece also features 22k gold paint:
both are lovely specimens and i like that these can be worn to hold a lot of hair, with the prominent parts exposed above the hair. this has lead me to look for more art nouveau inspired hair pieces and … well … what i’ve found are just way out of my price range.
i’ve seen something that has inspired me to do something very dramatic with a headpiece. i doubt i could pull it off with the proper materials and techniques [i.e. carving, jewelsetting, soldering] but i have a tendency to be creative with other materials to meet my end. [oh, granted, it's usually never as wonderful as the real thing, but i like that i gave it a try.] yet another thing to put on my list “to do”. *sigh*
when i stepped away from my search on ebay, i realized i never did get what i was actually looking for …. two small matching hair combs to hold my hair away from my face.
